Who can undergo obesity surgery?

We need to pay attention to a number of criteria in patients for whom we will perform obesity surgery. The most important among these criteria is body mass index (BMI). BMI is a value formed by dividing our body weight (kg) by the square of our height in meters. If this value is above 30, obesity is mentioned.

Obesity is considered in 3 main groups: body mass index 30-35, 35-40 and over 40. If BMI is >40, there is morbid obesity, that is, morbid obesity, and it must be treated directly with surgery. If BMI is between 35-40, it is important whether there is a co-morbidity or not. These comorbidities are type 2 diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, high triglyceride, low HDL-good cholesterol, sleep apnea syndrome, fatty liver disease (NASH), asthma, reflux disease, venous stasis disease, urinary incontinence, and joint deformities secondary to weight. .
